About Me
Laura Otton, LCSW, PMH-C
I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 15 years in the mental health field and 12 years in direct counseling. Born and raised in Virginia, I attended The College of William and Mary for my bachelor’s degree in psychology. I attended New York University to earn my Master of Social Work and worked for several years in the city before moving to Long Island.
Even with my education and professional experience, I could not do this work without the experience of having become a mother. Motherhood has given me the insight, love, and empathy to support other women during this time.
I received the Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International, certifying that I have received training, have practical experience, and passed an exam all within the maternal mental health field. I am a proud member of Postpartum Support International, the Postpartum Resource Center of NY, and the Long Island Doula Association. I also am thrilled to lead workshops for mothers and partners at The Nesting Place located in Farmingdale, NY. Please see Workshops for more information. I am proud to have worked with national and international companies such as SleepWise and MomCozy to educate on topics of mental health and motherhood.
I live in Huntington, NY with my husband, two children, and rescue dog. My passion is working with women through their journey of motherhood. For my own self-care, I love to read, exercise, and spend time with friends.
